This position consists of 30 hours per week for a 16-week period of time to be completed by September 1, 2018 as part of the Canada Summer Jobs initiative.Qualified candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30, be registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and must be returning to school on a full-time basis in the following academic year.

➢ Coordinating/planning magazine content making sure it fits with magazine’s vision, mandate and editorial objective

➢ Creating content: pitching ideas for stories, write and edit content to meet the highest editorial standards

➢ Ensure consistency of the magazine’s focus, tone and content

➢ Maximize social networking functions and general user interaction

➢ Good aptitude to come up with useful, creative ideas for stories and content

➢ Building/maintaining relationships with stakeholders and members of the community

➢ Working closely with web developer and advertising sales representative to ensure cohesion in magazine’s vision and mandate


*** Qualifications and Skills

➢ Experience in editing, writing or journalism

➢ Working knowledge of WordPress web editing and publishing

➢ Social media savvy as well as familiarity with various social media services for business

➢ Great organizational abilities as well as excellent computer skills

➢ Ability to complement stories with basic photography and basic video production preferred

➢ Strong work ethic and the ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently

➢ Computer literacy (Mac Programs, Word and InDesign

➢ Excellent knowledge of the English language and grammar

➢ Fluent in Spanish preferred
